PDGF-BB is a dimeric growth factor with potent mitogenic activity for mesenchymal cells such as fibroblasts, pericytes, and vascular smooth muscle cells. It is used in in vitro systems to study wound healing, angiogenesis, and stromal-epithelial interactions, and to support the growth of supportive cell types in complex co-cultures.
